KATHMANDU, Oct 8: Chandragiri Municipality is preparing to present its Voluntary Local Review (VLR) report to localize some thematic areas of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to the United Nations (UN).


The municipality came up with the report as a documentation of results of its arduous efforts in sustainability in the last year. The report includes goals related to education, health, gender equality, drinking and hygiene, safe, clean and accessible city among others in the review. It also includes the issues anticipated by the municipality in its plans and implementation by localizing the goals.

Chandragiri will be the second municipality to submit such a report to the UN. Previously, Dhulikhel Municipality had submitted the ‘VLR’ report.


Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Urban Development Prakash Man Singh, Chandragiri municipality Mayor Ghanshyam Giri, National Planning Commission member Dr Ramesh Prasad Singh, UN Resident Coordinator Hanna Singar-Hamdy, among others, jointly released the VLR report at a programme organized on the occasion of World Habitat Day on Monday.


Mayor Giri said that the municipality has prepared the 'VLR' report to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030 and to localize them.
