KATHMANDU, April 20: Jagman Gurung, coordinator of the Joint People's Movement Committee (JPMC) for the restoration of monarchy, has claimed that Nepal's federal republic will come to an end on May 29.
Speaking at an interaction program titled "The Need for Prithvi Path" held in Kathmandu on Saturday, Gurung said, "Our belief is that just as a person dies according to their birth month, day, and time, the republic will also end on the date it was declared. Didn't they announce the republic on May 29? That's the day they celebrate Republic Day. The republic will end on the same date in 2025."

He further stated that people in neighboring India are actively discussing the possible return of the Hindu state and monarchy in Nepal.
"Ninety-nine percent of the media have reported that the monarchy is returning to Nepal. They have widely published interviews with former army chiefs," Gurung said. "It's not impossible."
He also claimed that some people in India still keep images of former King Gyanendra Shah in their prayer rooms and worship him as a spiritual figure.
