UDAYAPUR, April 20: A young man from Udayapur died in a road accident that occurred last night on the Dharan–Itahari section of the Sunsari district. The deceased has been identified as Bishnu Raut, 29, of Jyamire, Chaudandigadhi Municipality-9.
The accident took place at around 11:30 pm when a car numbered (Province 01-030 Cha 4618) crashed in the Panipiya forest area of Itahari Sub-Metropolitan City-20. Raut sustained serious injuries in the crash and was immediately taken to the BP Memorial Health Institute in Dharan for treatment. However, he succumbed to the injuries on Sunday morning, according to police citing family sources.

Three others traveling with Raut were also injured in the accident. The injured have been identified as the driver, Bibek Lama of Ramdhuni Municipality-7, Sunsari; Ganga Basnet, 43, of Itahari-4; and Kalyan Katuwal, 31, of Itahari-1. All of them are currently undergoing treatment at the same hospital under police supervision.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the accident occurred when the speeding car lost control and collided with a tree on the eastern side of the road. A detailed investigation is still ongoing. The body of the deceased has been kept at the hospital for postmortem, according to Sunsari police.
