RPP protest ends following leaders’ arrest, party calls emergency meeting

The protest organized by the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) ended after its leaders, including Chairman Rajendra Lingden, were arrested while attempting to breach a restricted area.

KATHMANDU, April 20: The protest organized by the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) ended after its leaders, including Chairman Rajendra Lingden, were arrested while attempting to breach a restricted area.


Following the arrests, the protesters retreated from the prohibited zone.

The RPP has called an emergency meeting of its executive committee at 4:30 pm today.


According to the party Spokesperson Mohan Shrestha, if the arrested leaders are not released by this evening, the party will organize torch rallies across the country.


Chairman Lingden, Vice Chairman Buddhi Man Tamang, and leader Gyanendra Shahi, were among those arrested during the protest. They have been taken to the Kathmandu Police Office in Bhadra Kali.


The RPP has demanded their immediate release.
