KATHMANDU, April 20: The traffic police have requested drivers to use alternative routes as the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) is set to hold a protest in the Bijuli Bazaar area of the capital. The advisory specifically applies to those planning to travel along the Maitighar–New Baneshwor–Tinkune road section.

According to the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, vehicles operating on the road section from Maitighar to New Baneshwor via Babarmahal have been diverted from various points. Small and two-wheeler vehicles are being diverted from New Baneshwor.

Similarly, vehicles heading towards New Baneshwor are being diverted from Maitighar. Considering the RPP's program, public transport vehicles are being diverted from Tinkune, Ranodip and Krishna Pauroti areas.

Due to the diversions, vehicles passing through Maitighar, Singha Durbar South Gate, Anamnagar, Hanuman Dhoka, and Thapagaun are moving slowly and experiencing traffic congestion.

In addition, due to the increased number of vehicles during peak hours, traffic in areas such as Koteshwor, Gaushala, Chabahil, Sorhakhutte, Lainchaur, Ranodip, Krishna Pauroti, Putalisadak, Tripureshwor, Thapathali and Kupandol is currently being regulated and vehicles may have to halt for some time as part of traffic management.

The traffic police have also stated that transportation has been affected since the morning due to a separate protest by teachers.
