ITAHARI (SUNSARI), April 20: A car accident in the Charkoshe Jungle between Dharan and Itahari killed one person and injured three others late Saturday night. The vehicle (Bagmati Province 01-030 Cha 4618), traveling from Dharan towards Itahari, lost control and crashed, according to DSP Yograj Khatri, spokesperson at the Sunsari District Police Office.
The car carried four people including the driver. The crash critically injured Bishnu Raut, 40, of Itahari-1. Medical staff at the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan pronounced him dead during treatment.
When will it end?
Police identified the injured as the driver, Bibek Lama, 30, of Ramdhuni Municipality-7; Ganga Basnet, 43, of Itahari-4; and Kalyan Katuwal, 31 of Itahari-1. The driver Lama and Basnet sustained minor injuries. Authorities referred Katuwal to Birat Medical College in Biratnagar for further treatment.
In a separate road incident in Surkhet on Sunday morning, a vehicle struck and killed a pedestrian.
The vehicle (Karnali Province 01-001 Kha 0915) hit Kalibahadur Budha, approximately 55, of Hima Rural Municipality-4 in Jumla, according to DSP Birendrabir Bishwakarma at the Surkhet District. Buddha died during treatment as the impact caused him severe head injuries.
