KATHMANDU, Dec 12: The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has started repaying the Rs 22 billion loan taken to build Pokhara Regional International Airport (PRIA). CAAN has paid the first installment of Rs 850 million and is preparing to pay the second installment by March.

The loan repayment is scheduled in 26 installments, with two installments to be paid each year. CAAN plans to fully repay the loan in the next 12 years.
While the airport has been completed for two years, regular international flights have not yet started, and international chartered flights are rare. However, the airport serves about one million domestic tourists annually.
