KATHMANDU, Jan 12: The government has amended the Citizenship Act through an ordinance, enabling Non-Resident Nepali (NRN) citizens to obtain free visas for up to 10 years.
A cabinet minister told Republica that the ordinance aims to address the concerns related to granting social, cultural, and economic rights to individuals who have acquired NRN citizenship.
DOI issued 163,518 visas in the FY 2015/016
The amendment introduces provisions allowing NRNs to establish companies in Nepal without undergoing the procedures required for foreign nationals. It also exempts NRNs from seeking prior approval for foreign investment, making it easier for them to invest in Nepal.
