KATHMANDU, Nov 7: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has announced participation in the upcoming local by-elections and has called for candidate applications.
RSP’s Central Election Coordination Committee has decided to contest in all locations where the by-elections are set to take place. Committee coordinator Ganesh Parajuli stated that the party will try to select candidates as much as possible through consensus.

Additionally, the party will choose the candidates by voting for which there are multiple aspirants. Apart from this, independent individuals may be nominated in areas without party members.
This will be the RSP’s first participation in local elections, as the party was established after the 2022 local elections.
The Election Commission has scheduled the by-elections for December 1, fulfilling 44 vacant positions, including two District Coordination Committee chiefs, two rural municipality chairs, four vice-chairs, one municipality mayor, one deputy mayor, and 34 ward chairs. The Commission has set November 17 as the candidate registration deadline.
