KATHMANDU, March 30: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has proposed nominating economist Swarnim Wagle as the party’s candidate for the by-election in Tanahun-1. RSP said that Wagle is positive about joining the party.
Mukul Dhakal, the spokesperson for RSP, said that efforts are being made to field economist Wagle for the by-election in Tanahun.

Wagle had drafted the election manifesto of the Nepali Congress for the November 20 elections.
Initially, the NC had announced Swarnim Wagle as the party’s candidate for the general election from Chitwan-2. Later, due to internal differences among the NC leaders, the party fielded former vice chairman of the National Planning Commission Bishwa Poudel from the constituency at the expense of Wagle.
The by-election is to be held in Tanahun-1 after Ramchandra Paudel, who was elelcted as a member of the House of Representative from this constituency, was elected as the head of the state.
