MANANG, August 21: A new track is being constructed to connect Chame to Upper Manang as the roadway connecting Lower Manang to Upper Manang district remains disrupted due to landslides and floods of May 28 and June 15.

The Road Division Office, Lamjung’s engineer Suman Adhikari said that a sloppy hill is being cut at Bhratang of Manang Ngisyang Rural Municipality in the district to construct the new track.
In the absence of road connectivity since the disaster-induced damages on the road, locals of Manang are facing problems in reaching the public offices and institutions such as health posts.
Currently, drilling related works have been taken forward at the site deemed suitable to open a new track. The Nepali Army team will blast the rocks on the sloppy hills and make a headway for constructing a track, according to engineer Adhikari.
So far, a 22-km section under the 107-kilometre-Besisahar-Chame road has now been opened after clearing the landslide debris. The debris will also be cleared along the Talekhu-Bhratang road section soon, said Adhikari.
