KATHMANDU, March 25: The government has decided to retain the committee led by former Chief Justice Om Prakash Mishra to recommend officials for the two transitional justice-related commissions.
Minister for Communication and Information Technology Pritivi Subba Gurung said that the decision to give a new lease of life to the Mishra-led committee was made during the Cabinet meeting held on Monday evening.
TJ officials selection faces multiple snags

The committee includes former Attorney General Khamba Bahadur Khati, former ambassador Dr. Arjun Kumar Karki, and human rights activist Stella Tamang as members. The panel will also include chairperson of National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) or the person recommended by him as member.
Prior to the cabinet meeting, top leaders, including former Prime Ministers Sher Bahadur Deuba and Pushpa Kamal Dahal held discussions on Monday afternoon to deliberate on the matter. The meeting reached an agreement to proceed with the recommendation process by continuing the same committee.
Following this consensus, the cabinet meeting decided to formally extend the tenure of the Mishra-led committee.
