Police arrest four individuals in  possession of 150 kg marijuana

“We acted on a tip-off that smugglers were using porters to transport marijuana in the area."

BARA, March 26: Police arrested four individuals in possession of 150 kg marijuana in Bara district on Tuesday night.


According to the District Police Office (DPO), Bara, the arrested individuals are Buddha Ghalan of Jitpur-Simara Sub-Metropolitan City-22; Nanda Kishor Sahani and Bir Bahadur Damba from ward 8 of the same city; and Somlal Pakhreen of Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City-15 in Makwanpur, according to Bara Police Superintendent Santosh Tamang.

Chief of the DPO Superintendent of Police (SP) Santosh Tamag informed Republica that a joint team from the Simara Area Police Office and the Narcotics Control Bureau, Birgunj branch, arrested all four suspects in possession of 150 kg of marijuana.


“We acted on a tip-off that smugglers were using porters to transport marijuana in the area,” he said.


The police team caught the porters on Tuesday night while they were smuggling marijuana along the river route from Ratanpuri. “The arrests took place near Dudhaura River, east of Auraha village in Jitpur-Simara Sub-Metropolitan City-4,” SP Tamang said.
