Contempt case registered in SC against government for its failure to enact climate change legislations

KATHMANDU, Dec 22: A contempt case has been registered in the Supreme Court against the government for its failure to enact a law in accordance with the mandamus order issued earlier regarding the climate change legislations.

KATHMANDU, Dec 22: A contempt case has been registered in the Supreme Court against the government for its failure to enact a law in accordance with the mandamus order issued earlier regarding the climate change legislations.

Advocate Padam Bahadur Shrestha filed the contempt of court case, asserting that the government failed to comply with the Supreme Court's mandamus on December 25, 2018. The case is scheduled to be heard on December 28.


The apex court ordered the government to formulate the legislation arguing that there is a need to  formulate separate laws to tackle the challenges of adapting and mitigating the impacts of climate change,
