GANDAKI, Jan 10: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairman and former Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane, who was released on bail on Thursday in the Pokhara Suryadarshan Cooperative embezzlement case, is scheduled to appear in the Kathmandu District Court today as another cooperative-related case is pending against him in Kathmandu.
According to RSP Acting Spokesperson Manish Jha, Lamichhane will appear today at the Kathmandu district court.

After being released from the court, police conducted a health checkup of Lamichhane at Fishtail Hospital in Pokhara before handing him over to his family.
In accordance with the court's order, Lamichhane was released from Kaski Police custody after depositing bail of Rs 6.5 million. Along with him, six other defendants in the case were also released upon submitting bail. According to Kaski District Court Registrar Rajan Khanal, Lamichhane, Chhabilal Joshi, Lila Pachaai, Rambahadur Khanal, Krishnabahadur Gurung, and Aarti Gurung were freed after depositing the required bail amount.
Judge Nitij Rai on Thursday ordered the release of Chairperson Lamichhane on a bail amount of Rs 6.5 million, Chhabilal Joshi on Rs 8.8 million, Lila Pachai on Rs 3.7 million, Meena Gurung on NPR 500,000, Rambahadur Khanal on Rs 1.5 million, Aarti Gurung on Rs 500,000, and Krishnabahadur Gurung on Rs 100,000. However, defendant Lila Pachai remained in custody as she was unable to deposit the bail amount, according to the court.
After ten days of debate over the detention check, the court has ordered the defendants to be released on bail. On December 22, the District Government Attorney's Office filed a case against 44 individuals, including Lamichhane, on charges of embezzling funds from the Suryadarshan Cooperative. The Government Attorney's Office has so far filed cases against 63 individuals in the Kaski District Court in connection with the fraud involving the cooperative's funds. The clerk, Rajan Khanal, stated that further investigation will continue in the case of the defendants released on bail.
