Rs 5.62 billion spent on parliamentary and provincial assembly elections

KATMANDU, Jan 8: The Election Commission (EC) on Friday made public preliminary expenditure incurred while conducting parliamentary and provincial assembly elections.

According to the election body, a total of Rs 5.62 billion was spent for election purposes.  Of the total 9.70 billion allocated for the EC, Rs 4.86 billion was allocated for 77 district election offices while the EC headquarters itself spent the remaining Rs 760 million. 


Over Rs 4.07 billion remains unspent at the election body. EC officials said some payments are yet to be made. The remaining money will be mobilized to hold election to the National Assembly and elections of the president and vice-president.
