Communication and Media Conference 2024 to begin on Sunday

The Communication and Media Conference 2024 will be held in Kathmandu starting Sunday.

KATHMANDU, Dec 21: The Communication and Media Conference 2024 will be held in Kathmandu starting Sunday.


The two-day conference is being organized by the Central Department of Journalism and Mass Communication of Tribhuvan University and the Center for Media Research-Nepal. The conference will be held at the Department's Camera Building in Balkhu.

The department has stated that more than a dozen research papers related to journalism, media, and communication will be presented at the conference.


Dr Kundan Aryal, the head of the Department, said that the conference is being organized with the aim of promoting study and research in the field of journalism and communication, developing a culture of dialogue on various issues in the media and journalism sectors, utilizing the opportunities brought by new technologies, and helping to face the challenges.


The conference will feature presentations by experts from India, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka. There will also be a special presentation by Professor P Kharel on the topic of “Multitasking and Audience Fragmentation”.


The conference will feature separate discussions among experts, journalists, and researchers on topics such as the fight against misinformation in the age of artificial intelligence, media and corruption, the future of journalism, the relationship between media and the state, and the sustainability of journalism.
