Conference on communication and media kicks off today

The two-day conference is being organized by the Central Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Tribhuvan University, and the Center for Media Research Nepal. The conference will be held at the department's camera building in Balkhu.

KATHMANDU, Dec 22: The Communication and Media Conference 2024 is starting in Kathmandu from today.


The two-day conference is being organized by the Central Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Tribhuvan University, and the Center for Media Research Nepal. The conference will be held at the department's camera building in Balkhu.

The department has stated that more than a dozen research papers related to journalism, media and communication will be presented at the conference. Head of the department, Dr Kundan Aryal, said that the conference embodies the objective of encouraging study and research in the field of journalism and communication, developing a culture of dialogue on various topics in the field of communication and journalism, utilizing the opportunities brought by new technologies and helping to face the challenges.


The conference will feature presentations by experts from India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. Professor P Kharel will give a special presentation on the topic of 'multimedia and audience segmentation'. The conference will feature separate dialogues between experts, journalists, and researchers on the fight against disinformation in the era of artificial intelligence, media and corruption, the future of journalism, the relationship between the media and the state, and the sustainability of journalism.
