Police bring former provincial minister to Kathmandu for investigation

KATHMANDU, Nov 10: Police have brought former Koshi province minister Lila Ballab Adhikari to Kathmandu for further investigation into his alleged involvement in a human trafficking racket.

KATHMANDU, Nov 10: Police have brought former Koshi province minister Lila Ballab Adhikari to Kathmandu for further investigation into his alleged involvement in a human trafficking racket.


Former Minister for Internal Affairs and Law of Koshi Province Adhikari was arrested from his private residence in Biratnagar with a permission from the court on Sunday and brought to Kathmandu for further investigation.

Police arrested him from his residence in Bargachhi on the charge of involvement in a human trafficking case. Adhikari has been accused of taking three Nepalis with him to Japan by making fake documents.


The provincial chapter of the ruling CPN-UML suspended Adhikari from the party on Saturday for further investigation into his visit to Japan during Tihar without the party’s permission. Former Minister Adhikari resigned from the post on Wednesday amid growing criticism and pressure from the province government and the party.
