People's representatives attack journalist

CHITWAN, Sept 8: People's representatives in Gaidakot municipality beat up subeditor of a local Janaarpan weekly, Ajay Gorkhali, for reporting about the executive meeting of the municipality on Friday.

CHITWAN, Sept 8: People's representatives in Gaidakot municipality beat up subeditor of a local Janaarpan weekly, Ajay Gorkhali, for reporting about the executive meeting of the municipality on Friday. 


According to Gorkhali, the representatives attacked journalist Gorkhali, arguing that he recorded their statements in mobile. Even the mobile phone and diary were seized by them.

Meanwhile, various journalists' organizations including FNJ, Press Chautari, Press Union and Revolutionary Journalists' Organization in Chitwan condemned the incident, demanding action against those responsible behind the incident. 


Mayor of Gaidakot municipality, Chhatraraj Poudel, however, apologized over the incident, saying, he owned the moral responsibility. He said the incident took place when he had just left the meeting.
