KATHMANDU, March 10: Kathmandu has been ranked the third most polluted city in the world. Today, Hanoi, Vietnam, tops the list of the most polluted cities in the world, while New Delhi, the capital of India, is in second place.
According to the air quality index (AQI), the pollution level in Kathmandu was measured at 197 AQI. Hanoi, Vietnam, holds the top spot in the list of the world's most polluted cities with an AQI of 238, while New Delhi, the capital of India, is in second place with an AQI of 202.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO) air quality standards, air with an AQI of up to 50 is considered healthy. An AQI between 101 to 150 is considered 'unhealthy'. Similarly, an AQI between 201 and 300 is considered very unhealthy, and anything above that is categorized as hazardous, according to WHO guidelines.
