JANAKPUR, April 27: A passenger bus lost control and overturned in Saptari, resulting in three deaths and over 22 injuries.
The deceased have been identified as Ratna Bahadur Magar, 75, of Saptari’s Saptakoshi Municipality-1. The identity of two other deceased- a man and a woman remains unknown.
The accident occurred around 12 pm on Sunday in Badga, Kanchanrup Municipality-10, as the bus numbered (Pra 1-01-001 Kha 3420) was traveling from Udayapur to Biratnagar along the East-West Highway. The bus lost control and overturned, according to DSP Madhav Prasad Kafle of the Kanchanpur Area Police Office.

Both deceased passengers died from serious injuries after being trapped, and both passed away during treatment at Biratnagar’s Model Hospital.
Among the injured, two dozen passengers have sustained serious, moderate, and minor injuries. They are currently receiving treatment at various hospitals. There were 35 people aboard the bus.
The bus driver, Amrit Darji, 47, from Mechinagar Municipality-7 in Jhapa, is in police custody, and further investigation is ongoing.
