Complaint filed against appointment Ojha as NIA chair

It demanded an investigation into the documents submitted by Ojha and action against him. He had submitted documents showing his experience as a manager before taking the appointment.

KATHMANDU, March 6: A complaint has been filed at the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) against the appointment of Sharad Ojha as the Chairman of the Nepal Insurance Authority (NIA).


A complaint was filed with the CIAA on Sunday against Ojha for submitting false details and documents regarding experience to the government.

It demanded an investigation into the documents submitted by Ojha and action against him. He had submitted documents showing his experience as a manager before taking the appointment.


“Why was the first amendment of Standards for Appointment and Nomination of Officials and Members of Public Bodies Associated with the Ministry of Finance, 2073 BS removed from the ministry's website and the requirement to be over 35 years old removed and replaced with a requirement to be over 30 years old?” the complaint questions.


The complaint has also demanded action against the officials of the recommendation committee. On February 24, the Council of Ministers meeting had appointed Ojha as the NIA Chairperson.


Complainant Dipendra Bohara has demanded action against vice-chairman of the National Planning Commission (NPC) Prof Dr Shivaraj Adhikari, Finance Secretary, Expert Member Jyotindra Ojha, and officials of the Ministry's Financial Sector Management & Corporation Coordination Division, who served as the coordinator of the committee. Action has been demanded against them for fraud.
