KATHMANDU, May 19: The Supreme Court (SC) has asked the government to submit documents related to the writ petition challenging Sharad Ojha's appointment as the chairperson of the Nepal Insurance Authority (NIA).
A joint bench of Chief Justice Prakash Man Singh Raut and Justice Nityananda Pandey ordered the government on Monday to submit documents outlining the grounds for appointing Sharad Ojha.
SC issues order on writ against Ojha’s NIA chairman appointment

"The SC will study additional documents related to Ojha's appointment. It has directed the government to produce the documents submitted during the appointment process," said petitioner Advocate Indira Dhamala.
The government appointed Sharad Ojha as the chairperson of the NIA on February 25. On March 30, Advocate Indira Dhamala filed a writ petition at the SC, seeking an interim order. She argued that the government had altered age-related criteria to appoint Ojha, who lacked experience in organized institutions. She named the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Ministry of Finance, Recommendation Committee, Insurance Authority, and Ojha as respondents.
On April 2, a single bench of Justice Nahakul Subedi issued a show-cause order and summoned both parties for a hearing.
