Writ petition filed against Rabi Lamichhane

KATHMANDU, June 28: A writ petition against Rabi Lamichhane, chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, has been filed at the constitutional bench of the Supreme Court. Yuvraj Paudel filed the writ petition regarding the eligibility of Lamichhane's post as Member of Parliament (MP). In the said writ petition, it has been claimed that Lamichhane is unfit for the position of MP due to his involvement in the dual citizenship case and is not in accordance with the procedure.

KATHMANDU, June 28: A writ petition against Rabi Lamichhane, chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, has been filed at the constitutional bench of the Supreme Court. Yuvraj Paudel filed the writ petition regarding the eligibility of Lamichhane's post as Member of Parliament (MP). In the said writ petition, it has been claimed that Lamichhane is unfit for the position of MP due to his involvement in the dual citizenship case and is not in accordance with the procedure.


This writ petition has been listed in the constitutional bench for the first time. The petitioner, Yuvraj Paudel, also raised questions about the constitution itself.

The constitutional bench formed under the leadership of Chief Justice Hari Krishna Karki consists of justices Ishwar Prasad Khatiwada, Ananda Mohan Bhattarai, Anil Kumar Sinha and Prakash Man Singh Raut.
