Nepal edge past Uganda by one wicket, one ball to spare

KATHMANDU, March 9: Nepal has registered its first win in Uganda under the Women's Day Women's T20I Series.


Nepal chased down the target of 76 runs set by Uganda in 19.5 overs on Sunday. Opener Sana Praveen top-scored for Nepal, registering 17 runs off 35 balls with the help of a four. Puja Mahato scored 16 runs off 30 balls while Rubina Chhetri scored 10 runs off 10 balls, hitting a four. 


From Uganda's bowling front, captain Janet Mbabazi claimed three wickets in four overs conceding 18 runs. Sarah Walaza dismissed two batters in her 2.5 overs, conceding 11 runs.

Uganda had set a target of 76 runs for Nepal in the ongoing Women's Day Cup T20I cricket tournament in Uganda. Uganda has scored 75 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.


Immaculate Nakisuuyi top-scored for Uganda with 22 runs.  For Nepal, Puja Mahato took 3 wickets and Captain Indu Barma took 2 wickets. 


Nepal has benched Rajmati Airee, Alisha Kumari Yadav and Rachana Kumari Chaudhary today and given a chance to Bindu Rawal, Mamta Chaudhary and Sana Praveen. This is Sana's debut match in the national team.


The ongoing series features the home team Uganda, Nepal, Namibia and Hong Kong. All the teams will face each other twice in the series. The top two will compete for the title.
