About a week ago, I was running around the house to pack for a very special road trip with my family and friends. I was looking forward to this trip because we would be driving 1,000 km away from Kathmandu.

We woke up at 4:45 am that day, stowed our luggage in the car’s boot and drove off to our first stop -- Meghauli, Chitwan. On our way, we passed through a beautiful buckwheat farm infested with bees.

Upon reaching the hotel after a five-hour drive, we set out for river canoeing. We saw a lot of birds and animals, including ospreys and black crested bulbul. The most interesting among them were rhinoceros and Siberian crane. I also got a chance to learn about their life cycle.

The first day of the trip ended with the view of beautiful sunset by the river bank and camp fire.

The following day, we went for a jeep safari. During the safari, I saw my favorite birds, such as red vented bulbul and peacock. I even saw an anthill. Before we returned back to the hotel, we parked the jeep beside a pond in the middle of the jungle.

On our way back, we took snacks and hot drinks before driving to the nearest view tower. The view from the top of the tower was amazing.

On the third day, we headed towards Lumbini, where we visited different monasteries which were truly beautiful. We also visited an ostrich farm and fed them. The next day, we drove to Palpa where we went for shopping and visited Muldhoka (Baghidhoka) chowk.

Pokhara was our next stop, where we spent our time boating on the Fewa Lake. After all the fun, we went to the hotel, packed our bags up, and headed back to Kathmandu. As soon as we got home, me and my little sister had dinner and jumped to our beds. That night, I dreamt about our adventure and our amazing experience during the road trip. Days after our return, I realized how life is different out of Kathmandu and the importance of travelling.
