KATHMANDU, Dec 27: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has issued a special winter weather bulletin, forecasting rain and snowfall in various parts of Nepal, especially the western region, starting Friday evening.
Lack of rain and snowfall affects apple production
The bulletin states that due to the influence of a western low-pressure system, many areas will experience cloudy weather, with light to moderate snowfall expected in high hilly and mountainous areas of Sudurpaschim and Karnali provinces from the afternoon of December 27 to 28. Snowfall is also possible in some areas of Gandaki, Bagmati, and Koshi provinces. Additionally, light to moderate rain is expected to occur in many places in Sudurpaschim, Karnali, and some areas of Lumbini province, with light rain expected in parts of Gandaki, Bagmati, Madhesh, and Koshi provinces.
The department also warns of a potential temperature drop and increased cold due to this weather system. Public and stakeholders are advised to exercise precautions, as the weather may impact daily life, health, mountaineering, air and road transport services.The Meteorological Forecasting Division will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates.
