KATHMANDU, Feb 6: Kathmandu, the federal capital of Nepal, received its first winter rain of this year on Saturday.
Along with the Kathmandu Valley, most regions of the country are currently witnessing light to moderate rain and snowfall.
The mountain regions of Karnali, Sudur-paschim and Gandaki provinces have been receiving snowfall since Friday.
Kathmandu receives first winter rain
According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division, the weather is partly to generally cloudy in Province 1, Province 2, Bagmati Province, Gandaki Province and Lumbini Province and partly cloudy in the rest of the country.
Light rain is occuring at many places of Province 1 and at some places of Province 2, Bagmati Province and Gandaki Province.
The high mountainous regions are expected to witness heavy to moderate snowfall for a few more days.
Likewise, the weather is expected to be partly to generally cloudy in Province 1, Province 2, Bagmati Province and Gandaki Province and mainly fair in the rest of the country tonight. Light rain is likely to occur at some places of Province 1, Province 2 and Bagmati Province and at one or two places of Gandaki Province. Meanwhile, some places in the eastern and central high mountainous regions are likely to witness heavy to moderate snowfall tonight.
The weather is likely to improve from Monday.
