KATHMANDU, Jan 1: Second-tier leaders of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) have initiated efforts to reinstate former General Secretary Mukul Dhakal to his previous responsibilities after his expulsion from the party.
While concluding that the party was significantly weakened after his expulsion, Koshi Province Chair Rajesh Timsina and Madhesh Province General Secretary Tapeshwar Yadav have written a letter to Acting Chairperson Dol Prasad (DP) Aryal to reinstate Dhakal.
RSP seeks explanation from General Secretary Dhakal
Koshi Chair Timsina stated that he withdrew his signature from the decision to remove Dhakal from his responsibilities and as a general member of the party. In his letter, he emphasized the need to build the party through cooperation rather than conflict.
Madhesh General Secretary Yadav said that he withdrew his signature for Dhakal's removal, stating that RSP is facing its biggest crisis and needs to move forward thoughtfully. He urged unity in this time of crisis, calling on everyone to set aside anger, resentment, hatred and attachments and come together to revive the standing of the party.
RSP expelled founding General Secretary Dhakal, who also served as spokesperson from the party in July last year. He was also stripped off the party's ordinary membership.
