MORANG, Jan 1: Police have arrested two individuals with a large quantity of marijuana in Morang.
Rahul Bishwakarma, 24, from Dharan Sub-metropolitan City-12 in Sunsari, and Suraj Rai, 19, from Sahidbhumi Rural Municipality-6 in Dhankuta, were apprehended while attempting to transport marijuana across the border in a vehicle, according to Morang Police Spokesperson DSP Ved Prakash Joshi.

DSP Joshi stated that Bishwakarma and Rai were arrested from a vehicle carrying 155 kg of marijuana.
The police intercepted the vehicle at Bhatta Chowk in Biratnagar Metropolitan City-18, after it had evaded a police checkpoint. The Scorpio jeep with registration number Ko 1 Cha 9582 was seized at the border area, where the marijuana, along with the driver Bishwakarma and passenger Rai, were arrested.
Police suspect that the marijuana, originating from Dhankuta, was being transported to India. A team led by DSP Joshi had been searching for the vehicle after it fled the police checkpoint earlier at around 10:30 pm on Tuesday.
The vehicle was later found in Dhuni Basti. Police announced that further investigation is ongoing.
