After the meeting, Landgren told reporters that their talks centered on Nepal’s peace process and the bitter ties among the political parties.
The meeting comes at a time when ruling parties have objected to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon’s report to the UN Security Council prescribing national unity government in Nepal as interference in Nepal’s internal matters.
Landgren said the UNSG did not present his report with an intention to interfere in Nepal’s internal matters. She said the UN cannot do so.
She said UN believes that Nepal’s internal matters will be resolved through the consensus and cooperation among Nepali political parties.
In her meeting with Dahal too, she said she urged him to conclude the peace process at the earliest on the basis of political consensus.
Dahal expressed commitment to work towards strengthening cooperation and unity among the political parties, Landgren said. She said the UN is ready to encourage consensus and cooperation among the parties.
