DHANKUTA, July 12: As many as 11 people are missing in Silongchong Rural Municipality in Sankhuwasabha district since Saturday night after eight houses in the village were swept away by a massive landslide triggered by incessant rainfall.
Perhaps no single development issue attracted as much attention, controversy and debate in the early nineties as the Arun III Hydro Project, located on the Arun River in Sankhuwasabha district. This project was identified by a JICA reconnaissance study in the Koshi basin, and screened further on the basis of energy capacity, distance from the load centre, accessibility, and rough cost benefit analysis.

SANKHUWASABHA, July 25: Locals of Silonchong Rural Municipality-3 of Sankhuwasabha district have been facing threats from tigers since months. Tigers have been entering Yachamkha and Lakuwa villages of the rural municipality to prey on goats and pigs.
