Vector survey being carried out in Chitwan

CHITWAN, Nov 17: In the face of the outbreak of dengue and scrub typhus in Chitwan, a vector survey has started in the district.

CHITWAN, Nov 17: In the face of the outbreak of dengue and scrub typhus in Chitwan, a vector survey has started in the district. 


The survey carried out jointly by the District Public Health Office and the Vector Borne Disease Research and Training Center aims to assess the situation of victor borne diseases following outbreak of vector borne diseases like dengue and scrub typhus.

"The survey team includes specialists under the leadership of entomologist Shishir Panta and the study is going on for the past three days in the affected areas including Patihani, its surrounding areas and Chhitamai," said vector control director Ram Kumar KC. 


A man died from dengue at Patihani in Chitwan eight months ago. So far 621 people are reported to have been infected with dengue virus in Chitwan while 471 with scrub typhus. Malaria outbreak had also been reported in the district. RSS
