KATHMANDU, April 23: Sajha Party has set forth Nirupama Yadav as a candidate for the position of deputy mayor of Kathmandu Metropolis in the local polls due to take place on May 14.
Yadav will contest the upcoming local poll as an independent candidate since current electoral law bars her from directly representing the party she belongs to.

Yadav, 39, is a member of Central Coordination Committee of Rabindra Mishra-led Sajha Party.
By training, she is a lawyer. Born in Saptari district and brought up in Banke district, Yadav is a resident of Ward-14 of Kathmandu Metropolis.
Sajha Party has looked at her candidacy as a new phenomenon consolidating the emotional relation between Terai and Kathmandu.
She got married at the age of 17. She is a mother of three offspring. She has been working as a lawyer for the last 15 years.
She also served as a member of Peace Accord High Level Monitoring Committee and Reconciliation Council. In addition, she also worked as social inclusion expert, human right activists and legal consultants in various organizations.
