MALANGWA, Jan 30: One person was killed and 12 others were injured when a passenger bus collided with a motorcycle at Banke in Ishwarpur Municipality-12 of Sarlahi along the East-West Highway.
The incident took place when a night bus (Na 7 Kha 753) headed for Kathmandu from Bariyarpatti of Siraha hit a motorcycle (Na 29 Pa 4498) headed in the opposite direction on Saturday night. According to Sarlahi Police Spokesperson Deputy Superintendent of Police Madhav Prasad Budhathoki, 13 out of 40 passengers were injured when the night bus overturned on the left side of the highway.

The deceased has been identified as Bhakta Bahadur Khadka, 27, of Gharibathan in Ishwarpur-12 and driver Arun Khadka, 26, of the same place has been seriously injured. He was treated at Gadhimai Hospital in Lalbandi and sent to National Medical College, Birgunj for further treatment, according to the police.
Similarly, seven people have been discharged after treatment at Lalbandi Model Hospital while the remaining four injured are undergoing treatment at the same hospital. Police said that one person has been referred to Siraha.
It is said that accidents on the highway have increased due to heavy fog.
