KATHMANDU, March 3: The National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) has mobilized 985 final year engineering students in earthquake-hit districts as volunteers.
As it has been planning to hire over 4,000 students to deploy as volunteers across the 11 most affected districts, the NRA on Friday mobilized 985 students from Pokhara University in the first phase.

The NRA said that the volunteers would provide technical assistance to the quake victims to build earthquake resilient houses.
Officials at the NRA also informed that the NRA had already signed a memorandum of understanding with the Pokhara University for the purpose. According to the official, each volunteer student will be provided living allowances of Rs 15,000 to 18,000. The Ministry of Finance has already released Rs 20 million for deploying the volunteers.
The NRA has already been deployed 2, 600 engineers in the quake-hit districts few months after the April 2015 earthquake.
The newly appointed volunteers will assist the engineers deployed in the field.
