NEPSE sheds 9.19 points; daily turnover falls to Rs 4.73 billion

KATHMANDU, Oct 27: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Sunday fell 9.19 points to close at 2,617.95 points. 


The secondary market opened at 2,627.14 points and surged to the day’s high at 2,632.95 points in just 12 minutes of trading. In the next one hour, the index first declined by around 16 points, which was followed by an increase of 14 points. The index however went to a successive fall and hit the day’s low at 2,610.83 points when only three minutes of trading time was remaining. The market recovered around seven points before it closed for the day.

The sensitive index, which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies, also declined 4.45 points. The daily turnover declined to Rs 4.73 billion from Rs 5.41 billion on Thursday.


Among individual companies, 92 were gainers whereas 140 companies were recorded as losers.


Five out of the 13 groups were registered as gainers. Life insurance, with an addition of 146.72 points, led the group, followed by hotels and tourism, finance, hydropower and trading who were also in the gainers’ lists. Among the losers, manufacturing and processing shed the biggest of 64.06 points.


ICFC Finance Limited had the biggest turnover of its shares worth Rs 326.48 million. Nepal SBI Bank Limited had its share value declined by the largest of 6.79 percent.  Life Insurance Corporation (Nepal) Limited, River Falls Power Limited and Mai Khola Hydropower Limited were recorded as the highest gainers of 10 percent of their market prices.
