Govt transfers nearly a dozen secretaries

KATHMANDU, Oct 16:  The government has transferred nearly a dozen secretaries on the same day three newly-appointed ministers took the oath of office and secrecy. A cabinet meeting held on Thursday evening took a decision to this effect.

KATHMANDU, Oct 16:  The government has transferred nearly a dozen secretaries on the same day three newly-appointed ministers took the oath of office and secrecy. A cabinet meeting held on Thursday evening took a decision to this effect. 


Cabinet sources said Secretary at the Office of Prime Minister and Council of Ministers (OPMCM) Yadab Koirala has been transferred to the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration (MoFAGA). Secretary at Kathmandu Metropolitan City Ek Narayan Aryal has been transferred to the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation in the new bureaucratic reshuffle.


Similarly, Secretary at the MoGAGA Surya Prasad Gautam has been transferred to the Ministry of Youths and Sports (MoYS) while Secretary at the MoYS Ram Prasad Thapaliya has been transferred to the Public Procurement Monitoring Office.

Secretary at OPMCM Kedar Neupane has been transferred to the Office of Vice President. Secretary Khaga Raj Baral, who has been serving at the Office of Vice President, has been transferred to the OPMCM, according to the cabinet sources.


Similarly, Secretary at the Ministry of Physical Infrastructures Debendra Karki has been entrusted with the responsibility to head the Water and Energy Commission, while Ramesh Prasad Singh currently serving at the Commission has been transferred to the Ministry of Urban Development. Secretary at the Ministry of Irrigation Rabindra Man Shrestha has been transferred to the Ministry of Physical Infrastructures. 


The mass transfer of the government secretaries comes shortly after three new ministers assumed their office on Thursday. While Bishnu Paudel was appointed as Finance Minister, Lila Nath Shrestha and Krishna Gopal Shrestha were appointed were as Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizens and Minister for Urban Development, respectively, in the fresh cabinet reshuffle.
