KATHMANDU, Oct 20: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Sunday plunged 47.44 points to close at 2,697.91 points. 


The secondary market opened at 2,745.36 points and fell to the day’s low at 2,690.41 points in the first 16 minutes. The market however recovered and hit the day’s high at 2,748.77 points in the next one hour and 45 minutes. But the market could not maintain its charm for the investors in the remaining hours and shed around 51 points before it closed for the day.

The sensitive index, which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies, also declined 7.91 points. The daily turnover increased to Rs 8.18 billion from Rs 7.19 billion on Thursday.


Among individual companies, 18 were gainers whereas 226 companies were recorded as losers.


Except mutual funds, all the remaining 12 groups were the losers. Life insurance shed the largest of 329.20 points, while a total of six groups lost three-digit points.


Goodwill Finance Limited had the biggest turnover of its shares worth Rs 450.70 million. Eastern Hydropower Limited was recorded as the topmost loser and Kutheli Bukhari Small Hydropower Limited added the largest of 10 percent of its market price.
