NEPSE plunges by 32.81 points; daily turnover increases marginally to Rs 4.84 billion

KATHMANDU, Sept 26: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Thursday declined 32.81 points to close at 2,486.76 points.

The secondary market opened at 2,519.57 points and escalated to the day’s highest at 2,541.69 points in the first 25 minutes. The index, however, declined in the successive trading hours and hit the day’s low at 2,480.42 points in the last 10 minutes. The market recovered around six points in the remaining period before the market closed for the day.

The sensitive index, which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies, slid 5.34 points. The daily turnover inched up to Rs 4.84 billion from Rs 4.81 billion on Wednesday.

Among individual companies, 38 were recorded as gainers whereas 202 were the losers.

Only two groups including trading, and manufacturing and processing added 35.15 points and 0.30 points, respectively, to their market values. Of the 11 losers, hotels and tourism shed the biggest of 145.63 points, followed by life insurance with a drop of 115.21 points and non-life insurance with 101.26 points.

Api Power Company Ltd had the biggest turnover of its shares worth Rs 479.96 million. Green Ventures Limited was recorded as the topmost loser, while Wean Nepal Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd by increasing with 9.85 percent of its market value was the biggest gainer.
