The revised provision came into effect after it was published in the Nepal Gazette, enabling members of the federal parliament to appoint personal secretaries.

The facility had been scrapped by the interim government led by former Chief Justice Sushila Karki. With the latest Cabinet decision, lawmakers have regained the benefit.

Under the new provision, each lawmaker will be allowed to appoint a personal secretary with qualifications equivalent to those required for an officer-level position, including at least a bachelor's degree.
