NEPSE increases marginally by 3.80 points; daily turnover plunges to Rs 13.72 billion

KATHMANDU, Aug 28: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Wednesday increased slightly by 3.80 points to close at 2,786.40 points.

The secondary market that opened at 2,782.60 points, went through a series of fluctuations and hit the day’s high at 2,860.87 points in one hour and 17 minutes of trading. However, the market index went into a downward graph and reached the day’s low at 2,762.31 points in the next one hour. The market recovered around 24 points in the remaining period before it closed for the day.

The sensitive index, which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies, also increased by 1.68 points. The daily turnover plunged to Rs 13.72 billion from Rs 18.64 billion on Tuesday.

Among individual companies, 98 were recorded as gainers whereas 142 were the losers.

Seven out of the 13 groups were gainers. The hydropower index increased by the highest of 16.79 points, while non-life insurance plunged by the biggest of 131.60 points.

Chandragiri Hills Limited had the largest turnover of its shares worth Rs 430.78 million. Liberty Energy Company, Himalayan Hydropower and Mid Solu Hydropower were recorded as the topmost gainers by adding 10 percent of their market values. Karnali Development Bank Limited lost the highest of 6.88 percent of its market price.
