KATHMANDU, Oct 9: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Wednesday increased marginally by 4.85 points while witnessing a notable fall in daily turnover amount.


The secondary market opened at 2,663.32 points and plunged to the day’s low at 2,643.89 points in the first 37 minutes of trading. The index however went into an increasing graph and reached the day’s high at 2,672.6 points in the next two and a half hours. In the remaining around an hour, the market shed around four points before it closed for the day.

The sensitive index, which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies, also increases marginally by 0.15 points. The daily turnover declined to Rs 3.76 billion from Rs 4.59 billion on Tuesday.


Among individual companies, 130 were gainers whereas 102 companies were recorded as the losers.


Four out of 13 groups were the losers. Index of the trading group was down by the largest of 23.45 points, while development bank, life insurance and investment were also in the row. Manufacturing and processing posted the highest gain of 75.92 points.


Nepal Finance Ltd had the biggest turnover of its shares worth Rs 220.15 million. United Modi Hydropower Ltd and Mid Solu Hydropower Limited stood as the topmost gainers, while Three Star Hydropower Limited was recorded as the topmost loser.
