KATHMANDU, July 17: The country recorded 3,296 natural disaster incidents in the last three months of the previous fiscal year, claiming the lives of 160 people.
According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA), two people went missing and 945 others sustained injuries in disaster incidents recorded between April 14 and July 16.
Similarly, 4,375 families were affected during the period. The highest number of incidents involved fires, with 897 cases recorded in three months. These incidents claimed 17 lives, injured 109 people, and affected 990 families, according to the Authority.

Likewise, 514 snakebite incidents were recorded during the period, resulting in 38 deaths, 479 injuries, and affecting 517 families.
A total of 477 storm incidents took place during the period, claiming 13 lives, injuring 68 people, and affecting 1,356 families.
The country also recorded 433 landslide incidents, in which 12 people died, 15 were injured, and 351 families were affected. Similarly, 223 lightning incidents claimed 24 lives, injured 120 people, and affected 262 families.
According to the details published by the Authority, 181 wildlife attack incidents occurred during the period, killing 17 people, injuring 103, and affecting 287 families.
The Authority said 161 flood incidents resulted in nine deaths, two missing persons, nine injuries, and affected 396 families. Likewise, 153 incidents of heavy rainfall claimed four lives, injured one person, and affected 132 families.
Similarly, 21 people died due to high-altitude sickness, while two people died after being hit by falling stones. One person died and two others were injured in wildfire incidents, while one person died and another was injured in avalanche incidents during the three-month period.
