KATHMANDU, Dec 12: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) plunged by 33.42 points on Thursday to close at 2,682.29 points.
The secondary market opened at 2,715.71 points and went to a straight fall to reach as low as 2,699.78 points within the first two hours of trading. In the next one hour, the index recovered around 23 points before going down to the day’s low at 2,679.55 points five minutes before the end of the trading hours. The market recovered around three points in the remaining period before it closed for the day.

The sensitive index, which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies, decreased by 6.44 points. The daily turnover inclined to Rs 6.14 billion from Rs 5.05 billion on Wednesday.
Only manufacturing and processing, and mutual funds gained 26.53 points and 0.08 points, respectively. Out of 11 losers, the life insurance index plunged by the largest of 180.41 points.
Among the individual companies, 40 were gainers while 204 lost in their market values. Janaki Finance Company Limited had the biggest turnover of its shares worth Rs 261.21 million. The company was also registered as the highest loser of 7.41 percent. Trishuli Jal Vidhyut Company Limited gained the largest of 8.55 percent of its market price.
