KATHMANDU, April 23: The world celebrates World Book and Copyright Day today. The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) began marking this day on April 23 after its General Conference initiated the observance in 1995.


This day honors books and authors while encouraging a global culture of reading. It also spreads awareness about copyright laws and highlights the importance of protecting intellectual property.
