KATHMANDU, Dec 10: Nepali Congress (NC) Vice President Bimalendra Nidhi has said that he would not file his candidacy for the post of party president if the current President Sher Bahadur Deuba accepts senior leader Ram Chandra Paudel as the unanimous candidate for the post of party president.
Vice President Nidhi, who was once close to President Deuba, has announced his candidacy for the post of party president. Addressing a function organized by Chitwan-Kathmandu Democratic Society in Lalitpur on Friday, Nidhi argued that it is not good for three leaders, who contested for the post of party president in the 13th General Convention to file their candidacies again in the 14th General Convention.
Nidhi argued that he would separately register his candidacy for the post of party president if there was no consensus among the top leaders to pick one candidate for the post. "In case President Sher Bahadur Deuba ji proposes the name of Ram Chandra Paudel as the unanimous candidate for the post of party president that is acceptable to me. Else, I will be a candidate for the post of party president and leaders from my panel will contest for the posts of the party's office-bearers," he added.
