KATHMANDU, Sept 18: Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Wagle is scheduled to attend diplomatic and bilateral meetings today, Friday, on the second day of his visit to India.
Wagle left for the three-day visit on Thursday and held bilateral talks with his Indian counterpart, Nirmala Sitharaman, the same day.
Talk at the top level
At 9 am today, he will attend a high-level diplomatic dialogue hosted by former Indian foreign secretary Shyam Saran at the India International Centre. Wagle will address the gathering as chief guest.
He is also scheduled to meet Indian External Affairs Minister Dr S. Jaishankar at 5 pm.
Later today, Wagle will attend a gathering hosted by India Trade Promotion Organisation chairman Jawed Ashraf at Bharat Mandapam. The event will feature high level discussions on various aspects of economic cooperation between Nepal and India.
The finance minister’s delegation includes Finance Ministry Joint Secretary Amrit Lamsal, Foreign Ministry Joint Secretary Gehendra Rajbhandari, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Nepali Embassy in New Delhi Dr Surendra Thapa, Economic Minister Taranath Adhikari and the minister’s private undersecretary, Kanchan Basnet.
The delegation is scheduled to return to Nepal on Saturday after meetings with private sector representatives and other senior figures.
