KATHMANDU, Sept 17: The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has stepped efforts up to support the families of workers who have gone missing due to the devastating Bhotekoshi flood on August 26. As of now, 13 hydropower projects have suffered damage while 47 employees and workers are still unaccounted for.
Anshu Kiran Shahi, a member of the Board of Directors of NEA, shared that during a recent meeting led by Minister for Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation, Biraj Bhakta Shrestha, the board took the decision to offer relief to the families of those missing.

This assistance aims to help them in their search efforts and to carry out necessary cultural rituals. In the initial relief package, the NEA will provide Rs 50,000 to the next of kin of each permanent employee and worker who is currently missing.
Additionally, the families of permanent employees will receive 50 per cent of the missing employee's initial salary scale for up to six months, until further decisions are made regarding compensation.
